Cave of Monsters
Here is a drawing game for two or more players that can be played co-operatively or competitively.
What You Need to Play
Some bubble wrap, large bubbles are best but any will do.
A permanent marker, for drawing on the bubble wrap. You could have more than one (fancy!) if you want each player to have their own or use different colors.
6 six-sided dice (d6). The basic kind of dice, six of them. Each player rolls up to three d6s simultaneously when attempting to pop bubbles.
A scorepad. Somewhere to keep track of each player’s score.
Playing the Game
Select a bubble to draw on. Draw either a monster or a piece of fruit on the bubble of your choice, anywhere on the bubble wrap.
Pop any bubbles containing monsters or fruit, up to 3 at a time. To pop more than one bubble at once, they must be adjacent. If attempting to pop monsters or fruit drawn by another player, each player rolls a d6 to determine if the bubble is popped. If the offense rolls higher, the bubble is popped and added to their score. If the defense rolls higher, the bubble is not popped and remains in play. Ties go to the defense.
Your turn ends when you decide to stop popping bubbles, or there are no bubbles with monsters or fruit available to pop. The game ends when the bubble wrap is completely popped.
Monsters & Fruit
Bubbles containing monsters are worth 10 points each.
Bubbles containing pieces of fruit are worth 50 points each.
Cooperative Play
In a competitive game, players compete to earn the highest score. In a cooperative game, both players contribute to the total score. Each player has a number of Hit Points equal to 6. Each time they attempt to pop a bubble and fail, they lose a hit point. Pieces of fruit will restore 1 Hit Point each, but can only be drawn once every 6 turns. The game ends when the bubble wrap is completely popped, or when the player’s Hit Points reach 0.
